Help Give New Hampshire Kids a Healthier Tomorrow

Uninsured children are five times less likely than insured children to have visited a doctor or dentist in the past two years. They are five times less likely to have a usual source of care. Uninsured children are more likely to experience developmental disabilities rooted in childhood, and they miss school far more often than their peers.

Health care coverage is the biggest factor in whether children receive the preventive and routine health care services they need to stay healthy and go to school ready to learn. Children who have insurance generally have better health throughout their childhood and into their teens. They are sick less often, get the treatment they need when they are not feeling well and are less likely to miss school due to illness.

NH Healthy Kids is one of the most successful public-private partnerships in the history of this state. Since 1993, we have cut the uninsured rate in half from over 10% to just over 5%. As a result, New Hampshire is now the third best state in covering kids, up from 20th place just over a decade ago.

Despite our success, more than 9,000 New Hampshire children remain uninsured. Many of these children are eligible for NH Healthy Kids coverage. Enrolling and retaining these children in the NH Healthy Kids program is a big undertaking.

It takes a mix of public and private funding to maintain our efforts and reach New Hampshire’s children who still need health coverage. You can help by making a donation to NH Healthy Kids.

Charitable contributions are used to replenish our premium rescue fund. This fund is used to help families make their premium payments during times of temporary financial crisis so that their kids stay covered. Donations also enable us to advocate for adequate state and federal funds and public policy decisions that are essential to our continuing success.

NH Healthy Kids is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Charitable donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
