Healthy Kids Silver Premium Increases

Effective October 1, 2009, premiums for the Healthy Kids Silver program increased from $25 to $32 per child per month and from $45 to $54 per child per month.

This is the first increase in Healthy Kids Silver premiums since January 2003.  In order to provide access to as many children as possible and manage the program within the constraints of the State budget, it is necessary to ask families to pay a larger portion of the cost of Healthy Kids insurance. It is important to emphasize that these are the first increases in family cost-sharing in six years, yet the cost of health coverage has risen significantly.  Healthy Kids still remains the most affordable option for kids to receive medical and dental insurance.

Families with children currently enrolled in the Healthy Kids Silver program will receive additional information about this change in the coming weeks.
