Resources for Provider Offices

Children who have health insurance perform better in school, have better overall health outcomes, and are able to access the care they need. Below, we’ve included information to help your office connect uninsured children, teens, and pregnant women to free and low-cost health coverage. Having trouble finding what you need?  !

You Can Make a Difference for Your Uninsured Patients

Making some simple changes to the way you do your work can mean a world of difference for an uninsured child, teen, or pregnant woman. Here are just a few ways that your office can help:

  • Screen for health insurance on your patient registration forms and provide Healthy Kids info to those who are without insurance
  • Remind families that even if they are over income for other state programs, they are likely to be eligible for Healthy Kids for their children. A family of four can make up to $89,400* per year and still be eligible.  *For our unsubsidized Buy-In program. For subsidized coverage, a family of four can make up to $67,056 per year.
  • Families who have never used our program before may not know about it yet. Studies have shown that the newly unemployed and families between 200%-300% of federal poverty level are far less likely to know about programs like Healthy Kids. Please help to spread the word!
  • Remind families that children who have health insurance do better in school and are less likely to have chronic health conditions go untreated. Also, parents of children with health insurance miss less work due to childhood illness.
  • Don’t forget about teens! Teens up to age 19 may be eligible for our program.  In NH, teens are much more likely to be uninsured than younger children. Remind parents that coverage for teens is also very important. Teens living on their own or who have unsupportive parents CAN apply for coverage on their own behalf, even if they are under the age of 18.
