What is Medical Coverage for Pregnant Women?

Medical Coverage for Pregnant Women is free health and dental coverage for pregnant women in New Hampshire. There are no premiums or co-payments. If you are eligible, you will receive a Healthy Kids Gold card to use at the doctor, dentist or pharmacy. The benefits are provided through the NH Department of Health and Human Services.

WHO QUALIFIES?

To qualify a pregnant woman must be:

  • A New Hampshire resident
  • A U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Her family’s income falls within the Medical Coverage for Pregnant Women income guidelines

*Note: Pregnant women under 21 who live with their parents will have a portion of their parents' income used to determine eligibility.

WHEN DOES COVERAGE BEGIN?

Coverage could start as early as the date we received your application. Also, if you received any medical care in the 90 days prior to your application, those services may be covered. You will be covered during your pregnancy and 60 days after delivery. Your child will be eligible for the Healthy Kids Gold program after he/she is born.
