At NH Healthy Kids, we strive to make information about our programs available to families through the community resources they’re already using. For this reason, food pantries are an important partner to us. Below are some specific ways that food pantries can help families with uninsured children to access affordable health care through NH Healthy Kids. Having trouble finding what you need? !

Food Pantries…an opportunity to connect kids to coverage

Small gestures can make a world of difference for kids without insurance. Food pantries are a trusted resource for many families with uninsured children, and have the opportunity to provide valuable information about NH Healthy Kids to families. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:
Screen for health insurance status on intake forms
Include NHHK materials and information in food baskets
Learn how to help a family complete an application for coverage (sign up for a HK 101 presentation below)
Help enrolled families to stay enrolled; ask families with enrolled kids when their renewal date is, and offer help completing the renewal forms
Learn about our income guidelines and share them with families who may be eligible
Invite our outreach team to your community events; we can provide information and materials

This educational presentation covers the basics of the NHHK program including a brief history, how the program works, and how YOU can help a family to apply right in your office. Time for questions and answers is included in the live webinar and in-person options, please allow an additional 20-30 minutes for these versions.
